Community guidelines
Effective date: October 26, 2026
The short, plain-language rules for being on Hearth. The Terms of service are the full version.
The idea
Hearth is for hanging out with people you actually like. Treat people the way you’d want your friends treated. These guidelines apply everywhere on Hearth: servers, direct messages, profiles, bots and voice. Servers can add their own rules on top.
Keep people safe
- No sexual content involving minors, ever. That includes drawings, “jokes” and roleplay. We ban the accounts and report it to the authorities.
- No harassment. Don’t bully, threaten, stalk or pile on anyone, and don’t keep contacting someone who’s told you to stop or blocked you.
- No hate. Don’t attack people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity.
- No violent threats, and don’t encourage or glorify violence or terrorism.
- Self-harm: don’t encourage it. If someone is struggling, be kind and point them to real help. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
- Privacy: no doxxing, and never share someone’s intimate images or private info without their permission.
Keep it honest
- No spam, scams, phishing, fake giveaways or malware.
- Don’t pretend to be someone else or Hearth staff.
- Don’t make new accounts to get around a ban or a block.
- Don’t sell or trade accounts or servers.
Keep it legal
- Nothing illegal where you live or where Hearth runs, including selling drugs, weapons or stolen accounts.
- Only share things you have the right to share. Respect copyright.
- Adult content is only allowed in servers and channels where everyone is an adult and has chosen to see it, and never in profiles, server icons or anywhere people haven’t opted in.
For server owners and moderators
- You’re responsible for what your server allows. Remove content that breaks these guidelines.
- Moderate fairly. Moderation tools are for running the server, not for harassing people.
- Bots you add must follow these guidelines too, and should only use what they see to do their job.
If you see something
Report the message or person from its menu or their profile. Reports are private. You can also block anyone at any time. For serious problems or a whole server breaking the rules, email abuse@hearthchat.xyz.
Breaking these guidelines can lead to content removal, losing access to features, or a ban. Read the full Terms of service for the details.
